This week I started out it like any typical day. I would start off stocking up under the beds and making sure we had enough of what had to be there to start the day. Then i would make beds after the patient was to leave and also i would take any soiled linen and put it in the closet (to be taken to be washed). I learned this week that this device being held up is a "hot pack" what we call them and inside this is clay and the pack is set inside this heater thing almost and it stays in 160 degree water at all times. When a patient needs to use one of these we will put it on a towel/pad and then put a plastic one on top (so it doesn't get everything all wet). There are two different hot packs this one being held up is called a "cervical hot pack" this one is used mostly for shoulders, neck and maybe some hip places. The other one is just a large square and that is used for backs mostly and hip area. Patients are on hot packs for times varying from 10 to 15 minutes at a time, they will usually be on heat before they do actual physical therapy so their muscles can loosen and relax so that working out the muscles is less painful for them.
Audri's Rube Goldberg
Audri thought in making her "monster trap" that making something so complicated to perform a simple task there is more likely for failure. Audri predicted that there would be from 10 to 20 failures before they reached 2 successes. Making things a lot complicated is something that comes natural to some people (me being one). There are great things to be learned from this also though and that is to never give up and as Audri said "try try try". being persistent and head strong was also a huge thing that Audri had to have. By her showing us that she knew she was going to fail before they reached success was her pretty much telling us that no matter what she was going to keep going for it and not give up. There is a lot to learn from a little monster trap and most of us would see right past it.
