What are unique strength of yours? One of my strengths is that I know how to make people laugh when they are having a rough time. I also am a very persistent; I get my stuff done when I need to. What do you value most in life? I value my sister, she is my light at the end of the tunnel and I would not be here if it wasn't for her I love her so much. Would you rather be recognized as a great friend, or an accomplished worker? I would love to be recognized as an accomplished worker, because in the end a great worker makes great friends. Would you rather spend time with your family, or make money to support them? I would rather spend quality time with my family because time is the most precious thing on this planet. .What are some experiences that have shaped what you want to do? Some things I've been through are that I have spent so much of my time and life on my health and other people’s health and well being and it has shaped me to want to be in the healthcare field.
What is a career you can’t not do? A career I believe I could not live without doing is a physical therapist or an assistant. I believe that it is my duty to help people out and it is a part of which I am, I have always been much derived and persistent to do this and to help people, if someone is hurt I will be the first person there guaranteed. It will be OK if I am not a PT but I would love to. If I had the ability I would do anything healthcare related, I would love my job as long as I am helping someone in some way shape or form. My plan to getting there is that I would love to serve in the army for how ever many amount of years while going to school there for I can travel and it also gives me the ability to help people around the world which I would LOVE to do and it is a dream of mine to do both. This is a step by step process and I understand some steps are going to be steeper and rocky than others yet I am still willing to push through everything and pursue my lifelong dream of serving in the army as a Physical Therapist.
The road to getting there: This road is a very long journey it is said to be about 6 to 7 years, now I do plan on taking a little while longer and I am expecting it to take about 10 years, my path will be a bit different from anyone else. I would like to peruse this career while I am in the Army, now other obstacles may come up and I am prepared for this to take a lot longer than the standard person being a physical therapist. This year actually in my 3rd trimester I am going to be job shadowing a physical therapist, so that will give me a foot forward and I’m excited for that and to get the experience to put on a resume. A physical therapist now is required to have a Doctorate degree, their earnings in Michigan are anywhere from like 65,000 to 80,000. A day in the life of a physical therapist includes, they might help a child with motor development, teach an adult to walk with crutches after an accident and assist an elderly person in getting back to the point of walking following a hip or knee replacement – and that would be just 3 patients. Compton generally sees around 10 people every day who need physical therapy.
