"9 behaviors that make you a better employee" this article has many good points for advice that I believe everyone should take into consideration. Some of the points that could help better me would be 1: to take initiative this is a hard thing for me, while I am outgoing I am usually the one sitting in the background minding my own business. Standing out wasn't always the strong point for me and i think I could get better at that a lot sooner because I would consider myself the outgoing one. Another point I could better myself with would go hand in hand with taking initiative. Volunteering to represent our group. This would probably be the hardest for me, I am not the best leader, I like telling people what to do, but I can honestly say I am bad at being a "leader" both of these points are able to be fixed easily which would be things I should take in consideration.
Finding a passion in yourself may seem a bit on the easier side although most people actually it is very hard for them, there are some ways to help finding your passion that much easier. John C. Maxwell said in his article "How to care out your life's passion" these few tips may help you out. The first one is to Listen to yourself, Maxwell said "too many people just go through life's actions and make the same old day decisions". Listen to your heart and don't do what everyone else wants you to do, have passion in the decisions you make and have fun with them too. The second tip is to "give it time" don't just find your passion rather peruse it and that's going to take time, patience is key to everything. The third tip is to "pay the price" Maxwell said "understand that sacrifice and passion go hand in hand" I can say personally that this one is very true, maybe even something small like hanging out with friends, and going to a sports practice, what one are you going to sacrifice? Lastly is "define success for yourself" you don't need to be rich to be successful, being successful to me means being stable financially and happy with what you wake up to do every day of your life, "life is too short to be bored and unfulfilled"
Winning is something everyone always strives for something everyone wants, who wouldn't? Losing is something almost everyone experiences, losing is apart of winning as well, there are many obstacles you'll run into on your way to winning and not quitting is the most important part of that. One experience I went through was when I had ACL surgery, it was during my junior year of high school and it was during volleyball season and I remembered being absolutely upset about it because of volleyball and I thought I just had to play, being back then I now realize how important that surgery was to me and how many amazing things I went through that I would never change. I realized how lucky I was to be apart of something like this and how many things people take for granted now-a-days, something as little as walking I soon realized I could not do for five weeks. I then told myself I was gong to get back on the court before anyone would ever expect me to. Going through the first weeks they were tough, getting out of bed, having to use crutches around EVERYWHERE. I soon started physical therapy about a month and a half after surgery, this is when the "not quitting" mindset had no option but to be played. I had to go three times a week and push myself harder everyday, the recovery time for my surgery is anywhere from 6 months to a year. In November I decided I wanted to still be apart of sports in some way, I decided to be the manager of my basketball team in the winter. Still in physical therapy for a few months longer I started running with the team in January. At that point I was in basketball, going to physical therapy, in school, i was working, and still maintained good grades. Now this was one of the proudest I've ever been of myself because through that all I did not give up on a single part of anything, and I got to go back into full sports again in the beginning of February, I got to actually play some games toward the end of the season as well. I somehow managed to go back in four and a half moths when my recovery time was minimum average expected to be 6 months. Quitting wasn't an option for me and I wasn't going to let it even seem to be one for me and I'm glad i didn't let that effect me at all.
#1-Watching the Woodward Dream Cruise.
My aunt and uncle lived on Woodward way back when and my whole family used to go to their house on the day of the cruise and we would all barbecue in the back of my granfathers pick up truck and we would bring a tent top cover us from the sun and we would just sit out there all day and enjoy each others company and eat hotdogs and hamburgers all day! #2- Climbing the Sleepy Bear Dunes One summer my dad took me and my sister and my step mom and step brothers and sister and what not, we went to Michigan Adventures for a day then the next day we all went to the Dunes and we climbed them and we went on a dune buggy ride which was painful (from the sand hitting my face) but so much fun I would defiantly recommend it to everyone. #3- Spend a summer night "up north" This acctually happened this summer,I remember one day around the fourth of July my friend said to me "How dcool would it be if we went up north for summer just us and a few other girls?!" now im the type of person if I think something is a good idea you betcha I am going to do it. So as you could imagine, I thought this was a great idea so the very next day me my one friend (the one who suggested) and 3 other girls took my car and set off on a 3 hour trip up north to Port Austin and stayed the night there. Coming home, they all didn't believe that the plan actually went through and to this day everyone talks about how fun that one day was that we all got together and did so0mething so fun. -Think Positive
This is a great way to start being a team leader because in a situation that is tough you need to be there to pick them up and have that positive vibe so everyone can feel the same and can accomplish more when everyone is positive and on the same page, this is also one of my favorite ways to keep everyone up, I always try and have a great mindset for the day, think positive, be positive and positive things will come to you. -Be Humble Know when you do right and know when you do wring and know how to control the reactions to these things. Being humble to me means that you're not proud or arrogant, but rather modest. This can work well in a team setting and help you achieve the leader spot because who wants that person on the team that takes credit for all the work? nobody right, so it is important to know when to and when not to take credit and to own up to mistakes. -Be a Positive Role Model Going along with thinking positive, being a positive role model is a very important thing when being a leader. In order for you to be in that position of a leader you had to have had a leader for you, being a positive role model for the ones "below" you can impact the next leader to come and the soon to be leaders. Leaving a great impact for the business, team, or whatever it may be, but it all starts with a . great role model and that starts with the team leader which may be you! |
